Semur Ayam
chicken dish with sweet gravy

- 5 garlic
- 1/2 large onion
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 12 chicken thighs
- 1 c hot boiling water
- 2 bay leaves
- Chicken bouillon powder to taste
- Freshly grated nutmeg ro tasted
- 2-3 tbsp white cooking vinegar
- Sweet soy sauce to taste (Indonesian sweet soy sauce – kecap manis)
- White pepper powder to taste
Slice thinly garlic and onion, then saute until softened, for a minute or two in butter
Add in chicken thighs, stir to coat for 3-5 minutes, then pour ini hot boiling water. Add in bay leaves. Cook for 20 minutes.
Season withe the rest of the ingredients, cook covered on medium heat, until chicken cooked through.
Serve with warm rice and enjoy 😊
