Hungarian Vinegary Potato Salad

Ingredients

  • 10 large potatoes
  • Enough water for boiling
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Ice cold water
  • 1 large onion preferably purple
  • Salt sugar, vinegar to taste
  • Garlic optional

Instructions

  • Fill a pot with water, boil potatoes until somewhat tender, not too tender, cooked but not too tender, 8 minutes
  • Strain and right away place potatoes into cold water
  • Add water, season with salt, sugar, vinegar, balancing the flavor of sweetness and sourness, into a large bowl
  • Add in sliced onion into rings
  • Slice potatoes, place into a bowl
  • Chill before serving
