Chocolate Babka

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 c lukewarm water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3 1/2 c AP flour
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • A pinch of salt

Filling

  • 1/2 c almond butter
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/4 c brown sugar

Sprinkling

  • Enough sugar

Topping

  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1/2 c AP flour
  • 1/4 c vegan margarine

Instructions

Dough

  • Bloom yeast in water with sugar
  • Mix dry, add in yeast, knead, rest

Filling

  • Mix everything
  • Roll flat dough, spread filling, sprinkle with sugar, roll, slice, braid, let rest

Topping

  • Mix everything

Babka

  • Brush babka with nut milk, sprinkle with streusel
  • Bake preheated 350 F 30-40 mins
  • Cool on rack
