Ayam Mentega

Indonesian butter chicken

Ingredients

  • 1.5 kg chicken pieces
  • 1/2 c unsalted butter
  • 1/2 c diced/chopped/sliced onions
  • 1/2 tbsp minced garlic store bought
  • 1 tsp minced ginger store bought
  • Sriracha sauce sesame oil, oyster sauce, concentrated chicken liquid, to taste
  • 1-2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1-2 tbsp sweet soy sauce kecap manis
  • 1/3 c water
  • 1 tbsp crushed parsley
  • Roasted sesame seeds
  • Teriyaki sauce to taste - optional

Instructions

  • On nonstick pan, place butter and chicken, fry chicken until browning, on medium-low heat, stirring often
  • Stir in onion, garlic, and ginger
  • Season chicken with a little sriracha, sesame oil, oyster sauce, and chicken liquid, stir to combine
  • Then stir in hoisin sauce, sweet soy sauce, then pour in water
  • Adjust the flavoring to your liking
  • Stir in parsley, then sprinkle with sesame seeds
  • Serve with warm rice
