As opposed to misserable chilly yesterday, today it is so gorgeous outside. I feel like am sooo ready to plant some flower bulbs I got, but nah, there is still snow and frost on the yard ? But yeah, seriously beautiful today ? ☀️ ? ☀️
I have steamed buns a.k.a bakpao recipe to share today ? Love steamed buns, be it beans filling, jam, chocolate, chicken, beef or mantau (no filling). How about you?
I flavored the filling today with taco seasoning, hence the title ?
1 chicken breast
1 can chicken broth
1 Indonesian bay leaf (daun salam)
1-2 kaffir lime leaf (optional)
1/4 tbsp (I think my mouth said 1/2 tbsp in the video tho lol) Vegeta seasoning
1/2 tbsp each garlic and onion powder
A generous pinch of ginger powder
A pinch of white pepper powder
A generous pinch of ground cumin
1-2 drops of sesame oil
At least 1/2 tbsp of Indonesian sweet soy sauce (up to 2-3 tbsp)
1 large carrots
5 boiled eggs
At least 2 tsp taco seasoning
1 1/4 c lukewarm milk
1/4 – 1/2 c lukewarm water
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsp active dry yeast
3 c strong baker’s flour
A pinch of fine sea salt

Fluffy Chicken Taco Steamed Buns
Ingredients
Filling
- 1 chicken breast
- 1 can chicken broth
- 1 Indonesian bay leaf daun salam
- 1-2 kaffir lime leaf optional

- 1/2 tbsp each garlic and onion powder
- A generous pinch of ginger powder
- A pinch of white pepper powder
- A generous pinch of ground cumin
- 1-2 drops of sesame oil
- At least 1/2 tbsp of Indonesian sweet soy sauce up to 2-3 tbsp
- 1 large carrots
- 5 boiled eggs
- At least 2 tsp taco seasoning
Skin
- 1 1/4 c lukewarm milk
- 1/4 – 1/2 c lukewarm water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp active dry yeast
- 3 c strong baker’s flour
- A pinch of fine sea salt
Instructions
- Boil chicken in broth with the rest of the ingredients until broth much lessen. Discard leaves. Add in carrots, cook til soften and broth almost gone.
- Take off from heat, shred chicken with forks
- Mix in chopped boiled eggs
- Stir in taco seasoning
- Set to side to cool down
- Make skin
Skin
- Mix milk, water, and heat to lukewarm
- Add in sugar and sprinkle with yeast
- Let stand to bloom
- In a bowl, mix flour and salt, then pour in yeast mixture, knead
- Let rest
Steamed Buns
- Divide dough, flatten, fill, seam to seal
- Let rest buns
- Preheat steamers, steam buns for 15 mins
