When I was working in Jakarta, Indonesia, my aunt would take me for a quick car ride (hahahha what a bull crap, Jakarta is always with huge traffic, no car ride can be short whatsoever :P) to Bogor, where these mini buns are known from.
They are smaller than mini sizes, so they are called “unyil”, bite size.
I did not make them unyil size though, rather mini. You can of course make them into unyil size, just weigh the dough smaller than mine 🙂
Bloom yeast:
500 ml lukewarm water
4 tbsp skim milk powder
1/2 c sugar
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
Add in 1/2 c melted margarine
Stir in:
2 c AP flour
1 c bread flour
Let rest for an H
Knead in:
1 c bread flour
1/2 tsp each BP, BSoda
Dump dough on floured surface, knead for 1-2 mins, divide into 4
Turn 1 portion into cinnamon rolls (margarine, brown sugar, cinnamon powder, raisin)
Turn 1 portion into banana buns (banana, brown sugar, margarine)
Turn 1 portion into choc chip buns
Turn 1 portion as a regular round buns (once baked, brush with margarine, top with tuna floss)
Once shaped and filled, let rest until doubled in size, 45 mins at least
Bake on preheated 375 f convection oven for 10 mins
Cool on rack
Roti Unyil
Ingredients
- 500 ml lukewarm water

- 1 c bread flour
- 1/2 tsp each BP BSoda
Instructions
- Mix water, milk powder, sugar, and active dry yeast, let it bloom
- Add in margarine
- Stir in the 3 c flour, let rest 1 H
- Mix flour and BP and Bsoda
- Knead this mixture into rested dough
- Dump dough on floured surface, knead for 1-2 mins, divide into 4
- Turn 1 portion into cinnamon rolls (margarine, brown sugar, cinnamon powder, raisin)
- Turn 1 portion into banana buns (banana, brown sugar, margarine)
- Turn 1 portion into choc chip buns
- Turn 1 portion as a regular round buns (once baked, brush with margarine, top with tuna floss)
