This is one of my favorite for Hungarian dishes. I am not sure if this is truly Hungarian or perhaps more to German, or if anyone even cook something like this hahahha
I saw a jar of sauerkraut close to its BB date so I thought what would be a less hassle meal I could prepare with it and voila hahahah
Nah, joking. I have made this dish countless times and always love it, but I truly do not know whether this is Hungarian/German or something that my husband thought of in his head when he 1st taught me how to prepare this, as he would say “secret” whenever I ask him where he learned it from 🙂
We do refer this dish as sajtos csirke savanyu kaposztan though, so let’s just say Hungarian dish okay? 😛
I prefer to have it with rice instead mashed potatoes, but you can serve it with mashed potatoes for sure, should you are not into rice much 🙂
1 jar sauerkraut
6 frozen seasoned chicken breast, skinless, boneless, thawed
1 1/2 c grated marble cheese
Preheat oven to 410 F
Spread sauerkraut on rectangular pan, lined with aluminum foil
Place chicken breast on sauerkraut
Bake for 40 minutes, covered
Take out pan, uncover, sprinkle top with tons of cheese
Bake uncovered for another 6-8 mins
Serve with warm rice or mashed potato
Come check the video when I prepared this dish 🙂
