Hi friends!
As you (maybe) know that I’m a cake decorator…whenever Steem and/or SBD is sitting low, I mean when am not lazy, I mean when my 4 yo allows me, I mean…whatever I mean 😂
Occasionally, when the cake order(s) allow me to have a spare time to pause a bit, I would take step-by-step pictures, and later I could compile those pictures as video tutorials. I know it would be easier to record it right away, instead taking pictures one by one, but I have crappy camera and/or phone (and no tripod blah-blah), am also lousy and lazy in editing, so I prefer pictures than videos.
Anyhoo, one of those tutorials that I managed to compile and would like to share today, is this following of how to make edible baby sneakers.
These were made for a long time customer’s baby shower, a surprise gender reveal party, so I got to make a pair of blue and pink.
There are tons of templates that are free to download online, and you need the template, unless you have the cutter, or are good with digital drawing and whatnot. Me, I am not creative, so I used template 😉
As long as you have the template, these edible baby sneakers are super easy to make.
All you need is:
- fondant/plastic icing/gumpaste/modelling chocolate, whichever you like to use
- food coloring, preferably gel, of blue and pink
- template
Tools
- rolling pin
- working mat
- pizza/pastry cutter
- round tip nozzle, for punching holes – for shoe lace holes
- cake decorating tools
- cake brush (food graded paint brush)
Additional
- a small bowl of water, for gluing pieces – brush a little water on pieces to attach one to another
How To
- Knead in gel food color into your white fondant (unless you are already using precolored fondant/gumpaste)
- Roll flat fondant and place templates on fondant, cut per template by using pizza/pastry cutter
- Follow the picture-steps bellow!
- Basically (almost) done here, just need to add white part for the front (toe cap), side (welt), and shoe laces
