Hello Sweets 😊
On Sunday we only managed to laid down 4 concrete slabs for the greenhouse. Had to do other stuffs first. So many things to do, only 2 adults can really do them, and only one of them with plenty of time to do them, yet she’s lame. She likes to nap most of the times, than doing stuffs 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Yep. She’s me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
For today’s recipe, I have Semur. To be honest, sometimes I cannot really explain what certain cooking ways are called or translated from Indonesian to English 🤣 Like for curry itself, Indonesia has Gulai and Kari, the difference supposedly in the thick or thin liquid it has, HOWEVER, there are all sorts of Rendang and Opor, which are also curry-type. Rendang is almost like thicker, dryer stew, depending on what kind of rendang it is, while Opor is almost like gulai and kari, with a lot of broth/soup/liquid 😁
And don’t get me started with stir fries. We have Cah, Oseng-Oseng, Tumis. Yep, all stir fries. The difference would be on how much liquid you add to the cooking, how much sauces, how much oil, the flavoring used. Regardless, ALL are stir fried.
Now, this following recipe is called Semur. Some would say it’s braised meat, meat stew (which is almost incorrect as we don’t always use just meat and poultry, we can use tofu, tempeh, and/or eggs as well in semur), and it’s often thinner than a stew would be actually. Whatever it is, semur is ALWAYS with brownish liquid in the end 😊

All the potatoes, meatballs, chickens, are only half cooked, btw.
Turn oil, garlic and water into a fine paste.
Now spoon some of the leftover oil (2 heaping tbsp) and use a clean pot, saute the paste til fragrant. Turn down heat.
Add in fried chicken and meatballs, pour in water and sauces, rice vinegar, plus sesame oil, stir, season with bouillon powder, stir again and let it boil fully, until chicken cooked through, on low-medium heat (for at least 10 mins).
Add in fried potatoes, grape tomatoes, and cubed bell pepper. Cook until potatoes tender and bell pepper softened (8-10 mins).
Serve with warm rice and enjoy 😊
