I can eat these tofu morning, lunch time, dinner, if only I won’t have to wash my hair always 😅 You know, kitchen smell. What a maid, hey 😂
I love these tofu with warm rice, nothing else. They give such satisfaction for my Asian belly 😉 But sometimes we eat them as is, as snack.
Deep Fried Tofu
- 1 block of medium firm or firm tofu, cubed
- Dissolve a little salt in water with 1 crushed garlic, just enough (water) to coat cubed tofu
- enough cooking oil
- Heat oil on medium heat
- Deep fry tofu until brown, turning occasionally for even cooking
- Place fried tofu on paper towel lined plate
- Serve warm with peanut sauce!
Peanut Sauce
- 250 g roasted peanuts
- 4 garlic, thinly sliced
- 4 shallots, thinly sliced
- enough oil
- enough water
- enough brown sugar/organic coconut palm sugar (if you have Indonesian palm sugar is best)
- 1 red bird eye chili
- 1 kafir lime leaf
- salt to taste (omit if your peanuts are salted already)
- kecap manis, Indonesian sweet soy sauce – optional
- Fry shallots and garlic until crispy on medium heat
- Place roasted peanuts, chili, lime leaf, fried shallots and garlic in food processor, process until well blended and smooth adding water as needed
- Bring mixture to a boil, adding sugar and salt to taste (stir in kecap manis if you’d like to)
Tahu Goreng Bumbu Kacang
Ingredients
- 1 block of medium firm or firm tofu cubed

Bumbu Kacang

- 4 shallots thinly sliced
- enough oil
- enough water
