G’day!
Continuing my strawberry picking adventures with the family last week ago, I have been making anything with strawberries hahah From buns, rolls, jam, to syrup. So funny that we only got like 2 full buckets yet we could make so much!
I have shared the jam recipe a couple of days ago, will include the link on the bottom if you’d like to try, and today I am sharing the syrup/lemonade recipe 😀 Sooooo nice for hot Summer. I know we have been having rain nowadays, but even so, the temperature does not really coming down. Still warm days for us, so we have been having strawberry lemonade now and then 🙂
So refreshing, so good, so easy to make.
Last year if not previous year (lol yeah, I have been on Steemit for that long 😛 2 years ladies and gents, boo-yah!), I shared how to make old-fashioned raspberry syrup. Well for this time, strawberry, but the method almost similar to my husband’s grandmother’s method 🙂 I will also include the link below to that posting.
From this following recipe, not only did I produce a bottle of strawberry syrup, but in the end I also managed to bake strawberry rolls, using the same recipe as the syrup. However, I will share the recipe in coming days instead 🙂
Anyways, come see how I made the syrup 😀
- 870 g fresh strawberries
- 2 c sugar
- 3 c water
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Wash clean strawberries and remove stems, then place strawberries into a pot. With potato masher, make strawberry puree.
Add in sugar, juice, and water, bring to boil for 5 minutes, stirring often.
Lower heat to medium, skim bubbles, and let boil for another 10 minutes.
Prepare a strainer and a clean bowl. Take off syrup from heat, let cool to room temperature.
Strain syrup, but do not discard strawberry chunks, set aside.
Pour strained syrup into clean bottle.
And your syrup is ready to be used! Store in the fridge for 2 weeks max!
To serve, you just have to fill a glass with ice, pour a little syrup, then water if not sparkling water, if not soda water, and there you have itÂ
My recipe makes 1 bottle of at least 6 cups syrup
