This would be my 2nd time making Terang Bulan that is also known as Martabak Manis.
This thick pancake from Indonesia is very well known as calorie heavy pancake hahaha
We love adding cheese mixed with chocolate AND then with sweetened condensed milk. Crazy right? 😀
Ingredients
- raisins
- margarine
- 2 eggs, beaten well
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 2 1/2 cup lukewarm milk (or enough to make batter not too runny yet not thick)
- 1 heaping tsp active dry yeast
- a dash of salt
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- cheese, grated
- chocolate rice (Indonesian brand preferably such as Ceres or Ritz)
- 3 handful peanut, unsalted, grind roughly or well
- sugar for sprinkling
Directions
- Dissolve yeast into the milk, set aside for 10-15 minutes
- Meanwhile, combine flour, baking soda, and sugar, make a well. Pour milk mixture into the well gradually and stir until no lumps.
- Heat pan in medium heat, brush with margarine, make pancake from the batter.
- When pancake starts to make holes here and there, sprinkle with a little sugar. Place pancake on a serving plate, sprinkle with fillings, fold pancake, make slices and serve warm
Indonesians do not serve this thick pancake as breakfast by the way! We serve them usually evening time, as dessert. Well evening because the street vendors come out only evening time hahaha
I am in no mood of watermarking so many pictures, so for now, please check the step-by-step video below 😀
