Labor Day today here in Canada. We will be putting up posters for our missing cat. We couldn’t do it yesterday as when I started to leave the house with my oldest, I got stung badly by a wasp!!! What a nasty pain I felt all day and night long. My 1st time ever. Thank goodness I don’t seem to have allergies to it, I heard some people could get really sick when stung by a wasp and/or a bee. Yikes.
We’ve been grilling chicken much lately, whenever it’s possible, as it’s the last leg of Summer. Healthier than grilling hot dogs, cheaper than grilling a steak 😁 But also, Indonesia has a lot of various grilled chickens. So it’s nice to always have grilled chicken that is different in flavor 😉
This following recipe can be cooked 3 ways, btw!
1 tsp fennel seeds
2 tbsp dark brown sugar
2 tbsp packed chicken bouillon powder
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp sweet paprika powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp cayenne powder
1 tbsp lime juice
2 tbsp Oyster sauce
6 large garlic
1/2 large sweet onion
1/4-1/3 c sunflower oil
1/4-1/3 c water
Chicken drumsticks (I may have said thighs 🤣) – close 2.8 kg (got 3 boxes of them with various weight)
Grind fennel into powder, mix with the rest of the spices in a large bowl.
Using food processor, turn garlic, onion, water, and oil into fine paste. Pour paste into spices, mix well.
Make incisions on drumsticks then coat drumsticks with spice paste.
Divide drumsticks into 3. One to be oven baked, one for air fryer, and one for gas griller.
For the oven baked one, bake on preheated 400 F for an H, or until chicken cooked well, then broil for 5 mins.
For the air fryer, according to your air fryer instruction, mine with bones, between 390-400 F for at least 30 mins, or until cooked well.
For the gas griller, place chicken in aluminum foil pan, grill until cooked, then take out chicken from the pan and place them onto the griller directly, and brown them to your liking.
Enjoy with warm rice!
