Hi Hive!
Ready for NYE fireworks tonight? This year’s while there’s no snow, seems like a perfect time for fireworks, but too bad, we are sick. Meh! Here is crossing fingers that we can see it from the house tonight. Last year we could, so hopefully the location would be the same again 😊 For those who are on the other side of the globe, Happy New Year 2024! Here is hoping everything will be better for everyone around the world ❤️
I so wish I could empty my photos/videos files on this phone of mine before 2024 though. Unfortunately, no, I am not able to do so as I have too many recipes to share that I have yet shared with you, friends 😅 Food lover problems. So many to share, so little time 😅
Today’s food share is from Hungary. My mother in law prepared it for us. This dish is called Csirke Paprikas, which is chicken with paprika powder flavoring. Normally I would serve it with nokedli, homemade pasta, however my husband’s mom prepared it the quickest way, by using boiled pasta. Works great either way.
The Hungarians like serving csirke paprikas with Uborka Salata, which is fresh cucumber salad.
Here is the recipe if you’d like to try as well 😊
1 large onion, chopped
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 kg chicken pieces
Water, just enough
2 tbsp sweet smoked paprika powder
Salt to taste
Pasta, as needed
1 long English cucumber, super thinly sliced
2 garlic, thinly sliced
Water as needed
Salt, sugar and vinegar to taste
Boil pasta until El dente, set aside
Place sliced cucumber and garlic into a bowl, pour enough water, season with salt, sugar and vinegar. Chill until ready to serve
Heat oil and saute chopped onion until softened and fragrant
Stir in chicken pieces, coat with onion and cook until changed in color
Pour a little water then stir in paprika powder.
Pour more water as needed, cover pan with lid and continue cooking until chicken is well cooked, season with salt.
Place cooked pasta on serving plates, top with chicken and gravy. Serve dish with cucumber salad and a dollop of sour cream.
Enjoy!
