I baked round braided apple loaf using the apples that the boys harvested the other day…thus the title ?
And also….the filling is actually using the leftover Freezer Apple Pie Filling I posted the other day ????
Sooooo good, I kid you not. The boys had theirs with cold milk ?
The best part? You don’t need 2nd proofing ?
Dough:
- 1 1/4 c lukewarm water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp active dry yeast
- 3 1/4 – 3 1/2 c AP flour
- 1/2 c sugar
- A pinch of salt
Method:
- Bloom yeast in water with sugar
- Mix dry, add in yeast, knead, rest
Filling:
- 1 c apple pie filling (see previous post)
- 1 handful raisins

Ingredients
- 1 1/4 c lukewarm water
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp active dry yeast
- 3 1/4 – 3 1/2 c AP flour
- 1/2 c sugar
- A pinch of salt
- 1 c apple pie filling see previous post
- 1 handful raisins
Instructions
- Soften raisin in apple pie filling, overnight, in the fridge
- Add sugar into water, stir. Sprinkle yeast and let stand for 5-8 mins til soften/bloomed
- In a bowl, mix flour sugar and salt
- Pour in ready yeast, knead, let rest for 45 mins to an H
- Roll flat, spread filling, roll back into jelly roll
- Bake on preheated 350 F for 45 mins to an H, depending on your oven
