Hi Friends,
Another day and another recipe developing I do with my sourdough starter, and this time I made chocolate crinkles!
My 2 little taste testers said, they should have more salt, as they truly liked the salted sourdough chocolate chip cookies I made the other time. So that is an idea for you, should you like to give this recipe a try. More salt ?
I made a lot of slipped of the tongue moments so you will see notes on the video and on the recipe below, of correction and suggestion. It’s one of those days when am a little bit foo-foo ????
Next recipe developing with Buddy, sourdough starter of mine, yep I named it ? Would be lemon, red velvet, screwpine leaf (Pandan) crinkles. I so cannot wait!
But for now, chocolate crinkles it is.
Initial Dough:
- 3/4 c cake and pastry flour
- 1/4 c cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp BP
- Freshly cracked Himalayan salt (maybe that is why it needed more salt kick, so about a pinch of regular white salt)
- 1/4 c melted margarine
- 1/2 c sugar
- 2 tbsp fancy molasses (dark is fine as well)
- 1/4 c margarine
- 1/4 tsp vanilla essence (I forgot to mention on the vid!) – I want to up to 1/2-1 tsp next time though
- Important Additions:
- 1/2 c cake and pastry flour
- 3/4 c sourdough starter
- Coating:
- Icing sugar
NOTE for the additions: my oldest thinks the cookies are a tad too sour to his liking (so this could also why he asks for more salt, to balance the sourness to his liking, perhaps), so I would suggest to use 1/2 c, which means lessen the flour to 1/4 c
To see the complete steps, here is the video ?
