Using up whatever frozen and canned goodies I have ?
Obviously in Indonesia they do not use soy curls nor adding Romano beans, and definitely not spinach, if they do add greens, it would be cassava leaf hahah
Well what can I say, it’s Indonesian food with Canadian style 😛
4 bambooshoot in brine, slice, rinse
150 g frozen chopped spinach, give a quick thaw in microwave, 2 mins
1 can frozen coconut milk, give a quick thaw in microwave, 2 mins
1 can Romano beans, drain and rinse
1 1/2 c soycurls, soak in hot boiling salted water for 5-10 mins, drain, no need to squeeze
1 can quail eggs, drain
1 L water, or enough to cover
Spices:
1 lemon grass, bruise or slice
1 1/2 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp ground coriander
1/4 tsp minced ginger (up to 1/2 tsp if you like)
2 salam leaf, no subs
1 kaffir lime leaf
3 candlenut, grated – no subs
3 tbsp veg oil
Heat oil, saute spices, stir in the rest, pour in milk and water
Season with:
2 tbsp mushroom granules
1 tbsp Vegeta powder
Serve with warm rice

- 1/4 tsp minced ginger up to 1/2 tsp if you like
- 3 candlenut grated – no subs
Seasoning
- 2 tbsp mushroom granules
- 1 tbsp Vegeta powder
Instructions
- Process spices in food processor
- Heat oil, saute spices, stir in the rest, pour in milk and water
- Season
- Serve with warm rice
