When less is more 🙂
What’s on the plate may seem too humble, but it is packed with protein, veggies, to accompany the complex carb 😀 Many Indonesians would have this similar plater for their daily lunch 🙂
Fried Tempeh (Tempe Goreng)
1 large block of tempeh
1/3 c water
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 – 1 tsp coriander, ground
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
Cut tempeh into portions
Mix water and spices
Marinade tempeh slices
Corned Beef Patties (Perkedel Korned)
1 can corned beef
1 large yolks
1 tsp dried chives
1 tsp Vegeta powder
1/4 c bread crumbs
Mix and shape into balls, then flatten.
Roll corned beef into:
1 large egg white, beaten
Enough vegetable oil for frying
Heat oil, fry tempeh and corned beef
Veggies Stir Fry (Oseng-Oseng Sayur)
Mixed veggies of your choice (fresh or frozen, such as carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, potatoes)
2 tbsp olive oil
3 garlic, sliced
1/4 large onion, sliced
Vegeta powder to taste
1/2 tbsp mushroom granules
1 – 1/2 tsp sesame oil
1/4 – 1/3 c water
Heat oil, saute garlic and onion
Stir in veggies
Season and pour in water
Cook til veggies soften
Cooked rice, for serving
Sambal (Indonesian hot sauce), for serving, optional
Serve stir fry with tempeh, corned beef, warm rice and sambal, if using
Makan Siang
