This is for Ramadan Day 10-12
For day 9 of Ramadan, I had leftover sweets from day 8, so I did not post anything. Then on day 10 and yesterday, I had bananas and fruit cocktails lol
So back today with day 12 of my way promoting Indonesia through sweets (since am not in Indonesia, so cannot promote touristic places :P), during the 30 days of holy fasting month.
In case this all confusing to you, majority of Indonesia is Moslem, where they would fast for 30 days during fasting month from dawn til dusk, and Indonesians normally break their fast with sweets, of cakes, desserts, ice drinks and whatnot 🙂
Anyways, today is day 12 in Canada (day 13 in Asian countries) and tonight I will have these cassava bites on a stick that I just finished making not long ago 😀
They are called Sentiling.
Some people would shape their sentiling round like balls, long like gummy worms, or squares, but they are prettier on sticks, for me lol
They are sweet but coated with salted grated coconut, so the flavor is quite nice 🙂
- 1 bag of frozen grated cassava, thaw, drain from the water (425g)
- 3/4 c sugar
- 2 tbsp corn starch
- 1 tsp agar-agar powder (optional)
- 1/2 c thick coconut milk from can
- Pandan paste
- red food coloring (Wilton is vegan friendly)
- vanilla extract
- 1/2 bag of unsweetened desiccated coconut
- a generous pinch of salt
- 2-3 tbsp water
- Preheat a steamer, lined with banana leaf
- Mix cassava, sugar, agar-agar, and cornstarch in a bowl, stir in coconut milk
- Divide mixture into two, colored one with a drop of pandan paste, while the other half with red food coloring and vanilla extract
- Pour mixture on steamer and steam for 40 mins
- Meanwhile, place coconut in a bowl, add in water and salt, mix. Microwave for 1 minute
- Slice cassava cake into bites and roll in coconut
- Push cake bites onto skewer

Ingredients

- 3/4 c sugar
- 2 tbsp corn starch
- 1 tsp agar-agar powder optional
- 1/2 c thick coconut milk from can
- Pandan paste
- red food coloring Wilton is vegan friendly
- vanilla extract
- 1/2 bag of unsweetened desiccated coconut
- a generous pinch of salt
- 2-3 tbsp water
Instructions

Dah hari ke 12 aja nih. 2 hari lagi, genap 2 minggu deh, setengah jalan wkwkwk
Aku belakangan ini males masak-masak euy, dah capek sama Actifit soalnya, letoy mau masak-masak hahaha jadinya hanya makan pisang (dasar beo wkwkwk) dan kadang salad buah doang, jadi dah beberapa hari ga berbagi resep 😀
Ntar malam aku bakalan menghidangkan ini nih, sentiling, tau ga?
Sentiling ada yang bentuknya bulat, kadang lonjong seperti cenil, kadang irisan kotak-kotak, atau kalau mau lebih cantik, di tusuk di tusukan sate 😀
Nih resepnya yak
- 425 g singkong parut beku, lunakkan suhu ruangan, tiriskan airnya
- 2 sdm tepung maizena
- 3/4 gelas gula pasir
- 1 sdt bubuk agar-agar (boleh ga pake)
- 1/2 gelas santan kental kalengan siap pakai
- Pasta pandan secukupnya, pewarna makanan merah, serta esen vanila secukupnya
- 1/2 bungkus kelapa parut kering siap pakai (yang tanpa rasa)
- sejumput garam
- 2-3 sdm air
- Panasan kukusan, alasi dengan daun pisang
- Campurkan semua bahan, lalu bagi dua
- Beri satu dengan pasta pandan, dan satu lagi dengan esen vanila dan pewarna merah
- Kukus 40 menit
- Sementara itu, campurkan air, kelapa, serta garam dalam wadah tahan panas, microwave 1 menit
- Potong-potong kue singkong, gulingkan di kelapa, jadi deh
- Tinggal tusuk di tusukan sate 😀
