Thought I’d share another easy tutorial for making a bathtub diaper cake 🙂
Materials
- diapers of your choice
- rectangular box
- baby supplies (lotions, shampoo, nail cutter, toys, etc)
- handkerchiefs, or baby onesies, or washcloths
- ribbons
- colorful hair bans
- large size rubber bands
- hot glue gun and the glue
- gauge hardware wire
- wooden dowel
- wire scissor
- regular wire
- washi tape/paper tape
- baby socks
Depending how big you would like to make the diaper cake, you can use a real baby bathtub instead rectangular box I used here. All of course depending on the budget to make, what you want or what the customer want :)To make this baby bathtub diaper cake, I used 1 whole bag of diapers, 36 of them. Grab a diaper, roll as you would jelly roll, shown on picture, secure with a pretty hair ban. Repeat step for another 23 diapers, so you would have 24 rolled diapers. You can wrap the rectangular box you are using with gift wrap, or leave it as is. Place a large rubber ban on sides of the box, then add a diaper roll one by one on the outside of the box, following the shape.
Once all the rolled diapers are used, place handkerchief, or onesies, or washcloths in the center of the box. Now let’s make the bathtub water spout! To make the water spout, you can either use the hardware wire I listed OR you can use a cloth hanger, a thinner one would be best, as it would be easier to cut and bend. Otherwise, just use hardware wire and dowel as I used. Cut the wire as needed (as tall you’d like the water spout to be), then wrap this wire around a dowel, not forgetting to wrap the end bottom with washi/paper tape, for the sharp end.
Now let’s roll 2 more diapers and push them in, covering the dowel and the wire, shaping/bending them into a spout. Then push in the dowel into the base roll that we have made earlier. Basically your bathtub is done now. You just have to fill place the left over diapers on top of the handkerchief, and the rest of the goodies (baby supplies) and make it nicer with ribbon. You can attach legs to the bathtub as some bathtub would have them, by using same size bottles of baby supplies (like lotion or shampoo and whatnot). Glue these bottles to the bottom of the box, by using hot glue gun. If you would like to, you can insert baby socks to cover the bottles, depending the size of the bottles, some would snuggle perfectly inside the baby socks, but since my supplies are slim bottles, they did not look that cute with the socks on, but I attached a picture here just to show you an option that those bottles can be covered with socks if you like.
If you can find paper fillers (crinkle papers), white preferably, you can attach them on the water spout, making them as if water pouring. Other idea as well, is to cover here and there with cotton balls, to make them as if they were bubbles on the bathtub 😀 For sure, with a family of plastic ducks would make the diaper cake merrier 🙂
Thanks for looking and I will see you guys tomorrow again 😀
