Happy Canada Day!
Well, not quite yet, a day early, I know π
Raise your hands if you get as excited as me when it comes to (celebrating) your country’s birthday π
Tomorrow supposedly tons of fun activities will be happening in town, just like always whenever Canada Day is here, however this will be the first it’s going to rain, boo-hoo. Yeah, I don’t remember ever attending the parade in the rain, maybe a little rain before or after the parade, but the forecast has been rain, rain, and raiiiiiinnn, like for the whole day. It rained yesterday, it will rain today, tomorrow, and the upcoming week as well. Yikes!
Here is crossing fingers, tomorrow the rain won’t come somehow π
For now, let’s have a slice of this simple strawberry and cream cake that I decorated as Canada flag since tomorrow is Canada Day π¨π¦πππ
I made the whipped cream with coconut, if you are not into coconut, there are other alternatives, soy based, nut based, tofu based, etc.
CAKE
- 1 1/2 c flour
- 3/4 c sugar
- 1 tsp BS
- a pinch of salt
- 5 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1 tsp vinegar
- 1 c water
GLAZE
- 1/2 c water
- 1 heaping tbsp strawberry jam
- 1/4 tsp agar-agar powder
- 5 small size strawberries, pureed
CREAM
- 1 can thick coconut milk, chilled in the fridge overnight
- 3 tbsp icing sugar
HOW TO
- Cake: Preheat oven to 350 F. Line a square pan with parchment paper. Mix dry ingredients, mix in wet ingredients, pour batter into prepared pan, bake for 25-30 mins, until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool to room temperature
- Glaze: Bring to boil water, powder, jam. Stir in strawberry pureed, cook for another 2 mins. Cool slightly.
- Cream: Scoop the solid cream from the chilled coconut milk, beat along icif sugar until whipped cream consistency
- Assemble: Poke holes on cake, pour glaze on top, chill cake for 30 mins. Cover with cream and decorate with strawberry slices. Chill an H before serving.

Besok, tanggal 1 Juli adalah hari ulang tahunnya Kanada, yay ππ¨π¦ππ¨π¦
Setiap perayaan Hari Kanada, sama ramainya deh seperti 17 Agustusan. Banyak kegiatan seru di kotaku.
Sayangnya, menurut ramalam cuaca, besok hujan euy π π π π Jadi yah, ntah apa yang bakalan terjadi π€£
Dalam rangka Hari Kanada ini, aku buat kue semalam. Sederhana aja sih, dan hanya ku hias seperti bendera Kanada. Kuenya rasa vanili dan kuberi glasur buah stroberi.
Nih kalau mau buat juga
BAHAN KUE
- 1 1/2 gelas terigu
- 3/4 gelas gula pasir
- 1 sdt soda kue
- sejumput garam
- 5 sdm minyak goreng
- 1 sdt esens vanila
- 1 sdt cuka makan
- 1 gelas air
GLASUR
- 1/2 gelas air
- 1/4 sdt agar-agar bubuk
- 1 sdm selai stroberi
- 5 buah stroberi ukuran kecil, blender halus
KRIM
- 1 kaleng santan kental, masukkan ke kulkas semalaman
- 3 sdm gula bubuk
CARA MEMBUAT
- Kue: Panaskan oven 350 F. Lapisi loyang dengan kertas kue. Campur bahan kering, tuang bahan basah, aduk. Tuang adonan ke loyang, panggang 25-30 menit. Dinginkan di loyang.
- Glasur: Didihkan air, selai, agar- agar bubuk. Masukkan stroberi halus, masak 2 menit. Dinginkan suam-suam kuku
- Krim: Sendok bagian padat santan, mixer dengan gula bubuk
- Letakkan kue pada piring saji, tusuk-tusuk dengan tusukan sate. Tuang glasur diatas kue, dinginkan di kulkas 1/2 jam. Beri krim diatas kue, hias dengan irisan stroberi segar, dinginkan 1 jam, sajikan
Kalau ga mau ribet, bisa pakai krim kental untuk buat krimnya yak π
