Last night we had a grouse for dinner. Was my 1st time. My husband shot it while hunting. Tasted like chicken, quite nice.
But for now, am sharing a bread recipe instead. Somehow I proofed it too warm too fast that it blew up in size 😛
1 c lukewarm milk
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 tbsp active dry yeast
Mix to bloom
Add in and knead:
1/8 c corn oil
A dash of salt
1 egg
2 1/2 c flour
Brush with oil and cover in warm place until doubled in size
Make filling
3 apples, doesnt matter red green whatever you have, I only used leftover I had in the kitchen. And since I had 1 red plum left, I used that one as well. All peeled and sliced thinly
1 tbsp salted butter
1/4 c sugar or as needed
Allspice powder to taste or as wanted
Melt butter and saute fruits until a little soften then add in sugar and allspice and cook until tender and produces water.
Let cool
Punch dough and roll rectangle or round, whichever shape you prefer
Place filling, and gather sides to seal
You can bake right away on preheated 400 f for 20 mins
Or you can let it rise again before baking
Brush top with yolk if you wish, but I used the leftover sugary water the apple produces on the pan.
If not, brush with butter as soon as bread is out of the oven.
Yummo!
