While living in Hungary, I ate tons of various fozelek (stew/thick soup). I mostly loved and still love them to date, like this following yellow split pea stew! – but don’t ask me for lencse fozelek (green lentil stew) hahaha Thanks to living in Hungary, I cannot stomach lencse (green lentil) anymore!
This dish is sooooo good, totally one of my favorites!
Soak enough peas overnight, drain, rinse, and put into a pot
Pour enough water to cover
Add in 2 bay leaves, a couple black pepper and 2 garlic cloves
Bring to boil, skim off the foam
Lower heat and cook until super tender, adding more water as needed
Drop in chicken or beef Knorr cubes if not salt or Vegeta (Royco), adjust flavor
Serve with wiener, luncheon meat, sunny side up or whatever you wish or even as is!
