This morning I would like to share you how I made this Chevy Camaro that is of course edible because it is a cake 😀
Get your favorite cake and cream ready, this tutorial is as easy as 1, 2, 3, I promise 😉
To make this cake you don’t need a sound structure, you will need to find a print of the car (this tutorial obviously will work for any other cars, not just Chevy Camaro, but since this was a cake order for Chevy Camaro, the car print was for Chevy Camaro) on the net, unless you are good in drawing.
Once you printed the model, do also make a cut out for the cake base, where you will be placing your cake on.
Make sure the cake you will be carving are cooled completely. In fact, it would be best if they are somewhat frozen, to make it easier for you to carve. Chilled cake is nicer to work with.
For this car cake, I made vanilla and chocolate cakes, those were the 2 flavors shown, but for sure, whatever flavor of cakes you prefer, as long as they are firm cake, not spongey cake, you are good to go.
Stack the cakes, with either buttercream, jam, ganache in between layers, so they would make a tall cake. Place the cake on the cake board.
Cut the car print and stand it against the cake and with a knife, start carving, following the shape of the car print.
Do not forget to take a little part of cake out (scoop out), on the wheels/tires area. You will be creating holes on those areas. Cover the cake with buttercream/ganache of your choice
For the wheels/tires area I added some fondant ropes to make some impressions, as well a cut out fondant as part of the car, as shown of the picture
Then cover the whole cake with fondant, either homemade or store bought.
You can use prepared colored fondant, but I decided to go with painting instead
Basically your car is almost done
Just add some decoration and/or placed the cake on a presentation board and that was about it
As you can see the car cake is placed on a road, and the road is a (slab) cake too 🙂 So overall, this was a rather big and heavy cake that could feed a lot of guests 😀
