Outside polka dot, inside polka dot!
This method can be used with any type of cakes you prefer!
I use chocolate and vanilla cake for this one but you can make the polka dots colorful, which of course it means baking rainbow cakes/making rainbow cake balls
Chocolate Cake Balls
(you can use your own favorite chocolate cake recipe, but here is mine):
2 c AP flour
2 c sugar
2/3 c cocoa powder
2 tsp BSoda
1 tsp BP
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 c milk
2/3 c oil
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 cup coffee
Mix dry ingredients, set aside. Add in the rest of the ingredients, beat for 2 minutes. Stir in coffee and pour mixture into prepared pan (greased and floured). Baked on preheated 350 F for 45 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Take out from pan and crumbles while still lukewarm, and shape into balls, set aside
Vanilla Cake
(recipe x 2 – for bottom and top layer)
1 c white sugar
1 1/2 c flour
1 3/4 tsp BP
1/2 c butter
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla essence
1/2 c milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9 inch round pan
In a medium bowl, cream together the sugar and butter.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
Combine flour and baking powder, add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
Finally stir in the milk until batter is smooth. Pour a little batter into pan, drop chocolate cake balls, then pour the rest of vanilla batter covering the chocolate balls
Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until knife inserted comes out clean
Cover with your favorite buttercream and decorate as you please! As for mine, I use SMBC for the buttercream and chocolate modelling for the outside polka dots and flower and chocolate shard.
Enjoy~
