Man, Hungary is awesome. So many homegrown fruits. Make me happy big time.
Here is a cherry pie recipe that I made it using cherries from our own garden 😀
Double Crust
- 2 c of flour
- a pinch of salt
- 2 tsp sugar
- 85-100 g chilled margarine or butter or vegetable shortening
- 6 tbsp ice water (super cold water)
Method
- Mix everything and knead. Chill in the fridge for 20 minutes then divide into 2 portions.
- Roll flat 1 dough and place it on prepared pie pan
Filling
- 1 kg dark sweet cherries, pitted
- 1/2 c sugar
- 1 pouch orange sugar (by Dr. Oetker, if you cannot find it, omit is fine, am just using up stock in my kitchen :))
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
Method
- Mix everything
To Make The Pie
- Spoon filling into prepared pie pan
- Roll flat the other dough and cover filling
- Cut some holes for steam to come out during baking
- Brush with beaten egg yolk
- Bake on preheated 350 F until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly

Lagi musim buah cherry, baik yang sour maupun yang sweet, dan ini hasil dari kebun 🙂
Kulit (double crust)
2 cups tepung terigu
sejumput garam
85-100 g margarin boleh, mentega boleh, vegetable shortening boleh, yang penting bukan pada suhu ruangan, jadi masih solid dan keras yah
6 sdm air dingin, lebih mantap kalau air es, kalau ga juga ga apa-apa
2 sdt gula pasir (ini kalau pai manis, kalau pai asin/daging/ayam, ga usah pakai)
Isi
1 kg buah cherry manis, ditimbang beserta tangkai ataupun biji
1/2 cup gula pasir
1 bungkus orange sugar (ga pakai juga ga apa2, saya cuman mau ngabisin stock aja di dapur 🙂
2 sdm tepung maizena
2 sdm air perasan jeruk lemon (boleh yang botolan, boleh perasan segar, kira-kira 1 jeruk lemon ukuran besar
Cara Membuat
Potong-potong margarin, ulenin dengan tepung, garam, gula, hingga berbulir, tuangi air dingin, uleni (jika tidak menggunakan air es, masukkan adonan dalam kulkas/bukan bagian beku, selama 20 menit)
Bagi adonan jadi 2, gulung dan taruh pada dasar loyang pai yang sudah diberi mentega/margarin
Tuang isi, tutup dengan gulungan adonan kedua. Olesi dengan kuning telur.
Panggang pada oven yang sudah dipanaskan terlebih dahulu hingga matang kekuningan dan isi mendidih
Isi: buang batang dan biji buah cherry, cuci, tiriskan. Campurkan dengan bahan lainnya.
