If you are thinking to bake something for the week-end, give this recipe for Marble Cake a try. I got the recipe from my husband’s relative, she gave me a lot of recipe clippings when my husband and I got married many moons ago, and I tried this one and it was quite tasty, not to mention simple to make.
The original recipe is for kuglof which is also known as gugelhupf, which translated to bundt cake. Should you have the gugelhupf’ mold, use that instead the ring mold (bundt mold) I used, supposedly it would make a nice taller cake of gugelhupf.
Ingredients
3 eggs, separated
120 g butter, room temperature
240 g icing sugar
1/8 liter milk
240 g flour
1 envelope baking powder
20 g cocoa powder
Method
- Preheat oven 350 F
- Beat egg yolks, butter, and icing sugar until fluffy and smooth
- On a separate bowl (which as you can see I used pan hahaha), beat egg whites until stiff
- On a separate bowl, mix flour and baking powder
- Stir/fold in milk a little at a time, alternating with egg white
Lastly, stir/fold in beaten egg yolks
Divide batter into two, add cocoa powder to one
By tablespoon, drop each batter one after another, making a marble effect, into greased and floured bundt pan (unless your pan/mold is silicone/nonstick)
- Bake until knife/skewer/toothpick inserted comes out clean (45-55 minutes)
- Cool on rack
