Indonesia has a lot of seafood. I love them all, at least the ones that I have tried hahaha While in Jakarta, I had green mussels, it was my 1st, think this was in hmmm 2002, maybe, if not 2001. My whole life I only had various fish, shrimps, cockles, and crabs. Then I learned about green mussels and I like them too.
In Canada, I tried (black) mussels, oyster (I have not try the fresh one though, only the smoked ones), caviar and whatnot. Like them as well.
I loooveeee seafood in short 😛
And this following recipe? Is good for most of clams! – anything with shell, like cockles too 😀
1 kg mussels
2 lemon grass, sliced or finely chopped
4 shallots, chopped
4 kaffir lime leaves, fresh or dried, coarsely torn or as is
2 fresh red chilies, sliced
1 tbsp fish sauce
2 tbsp fresh lime juice or from bottle
1 tbsp lemon juice
green onion/curly parsley/coriander for garnish
Scrub clean mussels, wash thoroughly, take away beards if there were any, and discard broken ones/opened ones
Place into a pot and add everything else, mix well
Cover pot and cook mussel on high heat for 5-7 minutes, until the shells are open
Transfer mussels onto serving plate (using slotted spoon is best), garnish, and serve immediately
Enjoy~
