Rendang pedas using instant spice 😛
2 1/2 kg lean roast beef, cubed
enough water
2 envelopes of Indofood’ Instant Rendang Spice
1 handful coriander
2 tsps cumin
1 tsp fennel
4 star anis
2-3 heaping tsps Hungarian Vegeta seasoning (substitute with Royco or beef broth powder)
3-5 heaping tsps finely ground red hot pepper (bubuk cabai)/hot pepper powder
2 cans coconut milk
Place cubed beef in the pot, cover with enough water, bring to boil and cook until tender; reserving some of the water (soup)
Meanwhile, grind well coriander, cumin, fennel, and star anis; set aside
When beef are tender and water lessen; add in a can of coconut milk, stir well.
Add in ground spices, hot pepper powder, and seasoning; stir well
Lastly add in the other can of coconut milk; stir well and cook until thickened and somewhat “dry”; and beef are well done.
Spicy Beef Stew
