Divide your fondant into 5 different sizes of balls to make body, head, tails, wings, and legs; as shown in the picture below.
Color each fondant as desired; preferably the turkey color, but here, I made colorful turkey. Do note, whenever you are working on a ball, do cover the other balls with plastic wrap; this is to avoid dryness.
Now let’s make the body; again, do not forget to wrap the rest of the balls while you are working on one.
Take the blue colored fondant, and divide into 3 portions; 1 bigger than the other 2; these are for the body and for the thighs. Shape nicely as round balls by using your palms.
With the help of a little water, “glue” the legs to the body as shown in the picture.
Now with the green colored fondant, shape into long log as shown in the picture by rolling it between your palms; yet, try to make the end of the log shaped as a rounded-oval shape of an animal shape. Then cut it with a knife.
Now, with the help of a toothpick inserted into the head, place the head onto the end of the body, as shown in the picture. Adjust it and if its needed, damp a little to glue it to the body.
Now roll flat the leftover green fondant by using your rolling pin; dust a little corn starch on your working board if its needed to avoid stickiness.
Using your Linzer cookie cuter; cut the flattened fondant and set aside. Do the same with white, and yellow color fondant.
Cut 3/4 of the whole size of the white fondant; and cut (slightly smaller than the white fondant) the green fondant as well. While for the yellow fondant, halved it.
Now with the help of the water, let\’s glue them with the following order; smaller portion of the white, smaller portion of the green, the big portion of the white, and half portion of the yellow. Then again, with the water, glue the tails onto the back of the turkey body.
Shape a little yellow fondant into a nose of a turkey; it is almost like triangle shape; then glue it as shown in the picture.
Now roll another yellow fondant shaped to long thin log; then make a pair of legs out of it; then glue to the thighs.
To make eye holes on the head of the turkey; I used a hair pin as shown below
Shape another yellow fondant into a round ball, flat it using your thumb, then roll it a little with the rolling pin; by using a knife, cut flattened fondant to shape a foot, repeat step to make another
foot. Glue feet to the legs.
Shape a pink fondant as shown in the picture; then glue to the nose, please see picture.
Now let\’s make the wings. Shape your yellow fondant like a log then flat it with your rolling pin; halved.
Then give texture by using your knife as shown in the picture
Shape thin log of your blue fondant; measure the same length as the wings; then flat them using your finger.
You might want to shape the texture of the wings as shown below
Glue the blue and yellow wings parts to the body; place a ball of plastic wrapper under each wings; these are to hold the wings in place while drying.
Shape tiny balls using the white fondant, place them on the eye holes; then with icing glace, place two dots on the white fondant as the eyes.
You turkey is ready as the cake topper for your Thanksgiving cake. Happy Thanksgiving!
