You can use ground beef instead beef patties to make these good beef pockets! My husband likes this pastry so much, he can eat 4 of them in one sitting, and stays slim hahahah
Filling
1 large potato, wash, peel, cut, fry, then mash
1 large onion, sliced, chopped, and minced
4 medium beef patties
1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp of salt
a dash of ground all spice
a dash of steak seasoning
1/2 tsp of ground black pepper
1/4 tsp of ground cloves
1/2 cup water
Add your mash potato, beef patties with onion and the spices and 1/2 cup water, mix well. Then place into a pan, and on medium heat, cook until beef is well-done.Turn off the stove, set aside to cool
Skin
2 cups all purpose flour + 1/2 tsp of salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/3 cup melted margarine
2/3 cup ice water
In a bowl that consist flour mixed with salt and baking powder, add the melted margarine, then add in the ice water. Using wood spoon/spatula, mix mixture into a sticky mass.
Place the sticky mass of the dough on a floured surface, then knead the dough for less than 3 minutes, do not knead it longer for you will only make a hard pastry in the end.
Beef Pastry
Ground paprika, as needed
Divide the dough into 8-9 small balls. Roll each balls into a flat skin. Place about 3 tsp of fillings in the middle of the pastry skin. (If you prefer a hot beef pastry, sprinkle a little bit ground paprika on top of the filling before sealing the pastry)
Wet all sides of the pastry with oil, and sealed the pastry.
Place on a baking pan. Bake in 400 F for about 45 minutes or until pastry skin is cooked (golden brown)
5 minutes before turning off the oven, take out the pan and brush each pastry with margarine. Put them bake into the oven.
