Sate Ayam….YUM 😉
In Indonesia, Satay is often served with the peanut sauce (sambal kacang) or the chili-sweet soy sauce (sambal kecap)
1 bag of NONA’s rice (for compressed rice cake)
oil+1 tablespoon of sweet soy sauce, and a food brush
2-3 boneless chicken breasts
skewers
2-3 onions
1 package of KARANGSARI (for peanut sauce)
sweet soy sauce (preference Kecap Manis ABC, can be found in Asian markets)
lukewarm water
fried red onion (optional)
Cook rice cake as the instruction of the bag, drain, set aside, wait until it cool down a bit, then you can make slices out of it, otherwise it will be too hot to touch.
In a plate, put 1/4 – 1/2 package of the Sambel Pecel, mix well with lukewarm water, not too watery. Add in 2-3 tablespoons of sweet soy sauce, stir well.
Meanwhile wash clean chicken breast, and cut cubes as desire.
Place each cubes in the skewers. Marinade the chicken on skewers with the mixed Sambel Pecel with sweet soy sauce and water.
Peel and wash clea onion. Cut as desired and place in the skewers.
Grill satay and onion until well cooked. Occasionally turn the satay and brush with oil+sweet soy sauce.
Serve with cut/sliced rice cake
Before grilling, satay usually marinate with the peanut sauce mixed with sweet soy sauce. But when I cooked the recipe above, I came to realized that I still have a 1/4 stick of Sambal Pecel, and it gave me idea to just marinade the chicken with the Sambal Pecel. And as my husband is onion-lover, we cut some onion, and grilled them along with the satay. This satay is pretty differ from regular Indonesian chicken satay, but it surely taste YUMMIE
